Gold Gift Box
his craft is inspired by our miniature, decorative, Victorian Christmas village. This box is wonderful for storing the napkin rings introduced in last week’s craft! It also makes a beautiful gift box, just like the red and gold one found in Beth's Fine Millinery.
Here are simple instructions for making a beautiful gift box or napkin ring storage box! Recommended for ages 6 and up.
(I've occasionally included links to sites that carry a supply item; Discovery Lane is not an affiliate for any of the linked sites)
Paper Mache Book Box (I’ve linked to one that’s the right size, or you can find one at most brick and mortar hobby stores). A wooden box of comparable size works too!
Gold sparkly paper (or any decorative paper you think is gorgeous!) - You need enough to cover the entire outside and inside cover of your box.
3/4 ” or 7/8” wide, sparkly red ribbon (or ribbon that compliments your decorative paper)
Optional: Mod Podge and Sponge Brush (you can use Mod Podge or a glue gun for this craft, it’s a matter of personal preference).
Measure paper to fit the top of the box. Cut accordingly.
Measure paper to fit the sides. Cut accordingly.
Measure paper to fit the bottom of the box. Cut accordingly.
Measure paper to fit the inside lid of the box. Cut accordingly.
Use your glue gun or Mod Podge to cover your entire box with your pre-cut pieces of paper.
Use your glue gun or Mod Podge to line the inside cover of the box.
Cut a strip of ribbon long enough to provide a border for the left side of your box.
Cut a second strip of ribbon long enough to provide a border for the right side of your box.
Glue your ribbon - see finished picture below for ribbon placement suggestion.
Use box to store your napkin rings, hold a gift or store personal treasures!
